Have you suffered a bereavement whether this be recently or a while ago? Are you struggling to find support or someone to speak to about your loss?

The Birmingham Bereavement & Wellbeing Service (BBWS) offers one-to-one, person-centered support for adults in Birmingham who are struggling after a loss—whether recent or many years ago. Our mission is to provide a safe, understanding space where individuals can talk openly, explore coping strategies, and begin to look ahead with hope.

What We Offer:

  • Emotional Support: Dedicated sessions with a trained Bereavement and Wellbeing Officer via telephone or online.
  • Practical Guidance: Help with managing the impact of bereavement on daily life and signposting to additional services.
  • Living Memory Project: A unique initiative that helps families celebrate their loved one’s life through photographs and interviews, creating a lasting tribute.

Who Can Access BBWS?

  • Adults aged 18 or over
  • Residents of Birmingham
  • Comfortable conversing in English

How It Works

  • Referral: Simple and quick – professionals and individuals can refer using our online form below.
  • Initial Contact: We’ll reach out to introduce the service, confirm details, and assess needs.
  • Support Sessions: Tailored 1-2-1 sessions with your dedicated Bereavement and Wellbeing Officer, who will help you navigate your grief and additional wellbeing challenges.
  • Closure & Feedback: At the end of support, we capture outcomes and invite feedback to continually improve our service.
