Sandwell Advocacy holds a regular peer support group for it’s volunteers, which provides a safe space for them to share their experiences, discuss their challenges and promote connections. In addition they can share good practices and also good news stories too.
Most of our volunteers work on our Sandwell Together Telephone Befriending Service, which matches a volunteer with a socially isolated person and for which they action weekly or fortnightly calls and all agree that they enjoy the peer support group meetings as they can meet other befrienders/volunteers. In addition , any issues can be raised in a safe environment and can be dealt with quickly and efficiently.
Our attendees do enjoy a get together and chat over a cup of tea/coffee and a piece of cake!
