Katie Moreton –
Volunteer Co-ordinator

Katie is the Volunteer Coordinator for Sandwell Advocacy. Joining our team recently in April 2026, Katie is new in post and has spent her time so far, in speaking with as many Sandwell Advocacy volunteers as possible to get to know them and to find out about their experience of volunteering with our charity. Katie has also been busy with organising a Volunteer Celebration event for Volunteers’ Week 2026, as well as recruiting new volunteers to help support our valuable work.

Previously, Katie has worked in the charity sector for nine years, bringing extensive experience across a range of areas, including homelessness, modern slavery, gambling-related harm, and bereavement support. She also has previous experience in volunteer coordination and, before moving into the charity sector, spent ten years working in public services.

Katie is passionate about social justice and is already seeing the benefits of her expertise as she helps to develop the Befriending Service. Through her leadership and experience, the service is making a positive difference to Sandwell residents, who receive weekly support calls to support them in isolating circumstance and to improve their wellbeing. Her role is also having a meaningful impact on the volunteers who make the calls, enabling them to build confidence and develop valuable experience.

Katie’s plan is to expand volunteering across other projects and services within Sandwell Advocacy, so be sure to keep an eye on our volunteer page on the website and social media for future updates.
