We are delighted to announce that the Parents Advocacy, Guidance and Empowerment (PAGE) Project has received continuation funding from the National Lottery Community Fund. This funding will enable the project to resume and continue supporting families across Sandwell.

Originally launched in 2022, the PAGE project provides specialist support to parents with a learning disability who are involved with Children’s Services. The service combines independent advocacy with practical independence and wellbeing support to ensure parents understand the processes they are facing and are able to take an active role in decisions affecting their families.

A Partnership Supporting Families

PAGE is delivered as part of the Communities in Sync partnership and is a collaboration between Sandwell Advocacy and Ideal for All. Together, the organisations provide a holistic service that focuses on both advocacy and practical life skills.

Through the project:

  • Sandwell Advocacy provides an Independent Advocacy Practitioner who helps parents understand meetings, legal processes and their rights.
  • Ideal for All delivers Independence and Wellbeing support, helping parents develop confidence and practical skills for everyday life.

This combined approach ensures parents are not only heard but are also supported to build the skills and confidence needed to care for their families.

Why the Service Matters

Parents with learning disabilities can sometimes feel overwhelmed when navigating complex systems such as child protection processes, assessments or court proceedings. Independent advocacy ensures they are supported to understand what is happening, explore their options and have their voice heard in decisions that affect them and their children.

By addressing both understanding and independence, PAGE helps parents feel more confident and better equipped to navigate challenges.

Returning to Support the Community

With the continuation funding now confirmed, the PAGE project is moving through its mobilisation and recruitment phase and will soon be fully operational again.

Referrals are now being welcomed as the service prepares to reach full capacity in the coming months.

This renewed funding ensures that more parents in Sandwell will continue to receive the specialist support they need at critical moments in their lives.

Looking Ahead

At Sandwell Advocacy, we believe everyone deserves to have their voice heard. The continuation of PAGE means we can keep standing alongside parents, ensuring they understand their rights, feel confident in their decisions, and are supported every step of the way.

We look forward to continuing this vital work with our partners and supporting more families across Sandwell.
