My name is Gurdeep Hanspaul, newly appointed Chair of Sandwell Advocacy in early 2025. I am delighted and very proud to support and help lead this incredible Organisation that gone from strength to strength for over 30 years!
My background is mainly in the voluntary sector and I have had the privilege of working with vulnerable adults, children and families in so many different ways for over 30 years. This has given me a great understanding of what communities are going through and how challenging and complex people’s lives can be. Therefore, the right thing to do is to support those individuals and families to live their best lives and for services like ours to be a part of their journey. Most importantly, advocacy gives those we work with a voice so that they can be heard and be integrated in their local communities, building resilience to thrive.
This role of Chair supports the Management Committee of volunteers who dedicate their time and resources to guide our amazing Chief Executive Officer to lead a very skilled staff and volunteer force to support those who need a voice. The projects we deliver are varied and valued for our partners and stakeholders, reaching a large number of families. However, we are always looking for more trustees. We would welcome those who feel they could offer the skills, dedication and time to support our friendly team and who have a vested interest in growing the Organisation. Volunteering roles, whether as a trustee or on various projects are fulfilling. They build new skills and confidence, which we will help with to become part of the Sandwell Advocacy family.
Please look through the website and contact us if you would like to support the work we do! We can’t wait to hear from you!
Regards,
