Advocacy Support Service for Adults
Sandwell Advocacy is now providing an Advocacy Support Service for adults who receive care and support within their own homes or in a residential setting. This independent service has been commissioned by Sandwell MBC who are responsible for monitoring standards of care.
People are invited to complete questionnaires which focus on the quality of care they receive. In some cases, support to do this may be required and this is where Sandwell Advocacy can provide assistance and enable people to have a voice. This can be for people in a Care Home, an Extra Care Scheme, a Day Centre or those who receive care in the community from a Domiciliary Care Agency.
Sandwell Advocacy recognises the important role played by family members and close friends in the lives of the people they support and, where appropriate, may request their input to complete questionnaires with, or on behalf of, the person receiving care. In all cases, where the advocate is involved, responses are recorded in an accurate and unbiased manner, ensuring confidentiality at all times.
There are important issues which affect people receiving care and Sandwell Advocacy is committed to promoting Dignity and supporting Sandwell Council’s Dignity Challenge initiative.
