During August 2024, Sandwell Advocacy were delighted to hold our Sandwell Advocacy Summer Activity. This one-day event was aimed at children and young people, who are in the process of receiving advocacy support through Sandwell Advocacy.

The purpose of the event was to deliver interactive sessions for families. On the day, 15 children and young people attended along with their parents / carers, which gave them a chance to share some time together in one place.

The Sandwell Advocacy Summer Activity Day was extremely entertaining and delivered on both fun and enjoyment for all. We held two entertaining hours of “Bouncing Joy”, inflatable activities and games such as Super Wacky Slides, races, and bubble blowing.

The children and young people had the opportunity to make friends, to talk and socialise whilst having lots of fun, and the parents / carers also had a chance to get to know one another too.

The event was supported by the Sandwell Advocacy team and several of our volunteers. Sharon Wilson, Independent Advocate at Sandwell Advocacy said, “The smiles, laughter and pure joy of seeing the children and people having fun in a safe and nurturing space was shared amongst the group.”

Further to their fun time, they were also given the opportunity to participate in our Sandwell Advocacy consultation process. The purpose of the consultation was to allow our team to understand more about the children and what the parents / carers thought about the Sandwell Advocacy service.

The overall feedback was that they all had a great time and would very much like to do it again!
